The four rules that unlock 1–100

10 uses สิบ

สิบ is ten. For 30–90, place the digit before it: สามสิบ is 3 × 10.

20 is special

Twenty is ยี่สิบ, not สองสิบ. Numbers 21–29 begin with ยี่สิบ.

Final 1 becomes เอ็ด

After a tens value, one is normally เอ็ด: 31 is สามสิบเอ็ด.

100 uses ร้อย

One hundred is หนึ่งร้อย. In conversational counting, ร้อย may be heard with context, but learn the full form first.

Using numbers with Thai prices

Add บาท (bàat) after the amount. For example, 50 baht is ห้าสิบบาท, and 99 baht is เก้าสิบเก้าบาท. In shops and markets, context may make the word บาท optional, but recognising the number itself is essential.
